One must be;

• A single female who has never been married.
• 17 years of age and a high school senior by their first appearance in a local preliminary or state competition.
•  no older than 24 years of age.
• must have no children
• Must be a resident of the REGIONAL Counties (Morris, Essex, Union, Middlesex or Somerset) for a minimum of 6 months prior to the day of competition.

Guidelines For Areas Of Competition

Talent (35% of overall score)

• Talent presentations must not exceed 90 seconds.
• Only the contestant will be permitted on stage during her talent presentation. No other person can be part of her performance
• Talent presentations must be performed live.
• Vocal performances must have accompanying music. A cappella performances are not permitted.
• The use of fire, fireworks, swords, knives, live animals, and the removal of layers of clothing is not permitted.

Panel Interview (25% of overall score)

• Contestants will wear a dress, business suit or other attire suitable for a job interview.
• The interview will be panel style with the questions asked in "press conference style" by the judges.
• The judge asking the first question is determined before the interview begins and, after that question, there is no predetermined order of questions.
• Any judge may ask a question at any time.
• There is no opening statement but a 30 second closing statement
• The total amount of time for interview will be 10 minutes.

Evening Wear (20% of overall score)

• Contestants will wear an appropriate formal evening gown of their choice.
• Contestants will be judged on sense of confidence, stage presence, poise, elegance and overall first impression

Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit (15% of overall score)

• Contest will wear a swimsuit of their choice (one or two piece)
• Contestants must demonstrate the ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle of nutrition and physical fitness.

On Stage question (5% of overall score)

• Contest will be asked one or two questions on stage wearing their interview outfit
• Contestants must demonstrate the ability to project her interest, opinions and aspirations.
